Terms of Use

Last updated: June 2026

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the VitaMac iPhone/iPad app and the VitaMac Agent for macOS (together, the "Software"), provided by Giant Mushroom Studio ("we", "us"). By installing or using the Software you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Software.

The short version

VitaMac runs on your own devices, over your own network, to monitor and control your own Mac. We don't run servers for it, we don't collect your data, and the Software is provided "as is" without warranty.

1. Licence

The VitaMac app is licensed, not sold, to you for personal use on Apple devices you own or control, subject to Apple's standard Licensed Application End User Licence Agreement and these Terms. The published source code is source‑available: you may view and reference it, but it is not licensed for reuse, building, redistribution, or commercial use. See the repository licence for details.

2. Acceptable use

You agree to use the Software only on Macs and networks you own or are authorised to administer. You must not use it to access, monitor, or control any computer without permission. You are responsible for actions you take through the Software, including terminating processes and issuing power commands (restart, sleep, shut down, display off), which may cause unsaved work to be lost.

3. How it works

The Software communicates directly between your devices over your local network and is end‑to‑end encrypted. It has no cloud component. You are responsible for keeping your devices, your network, and your pairing secure.

4. No warranty

The Software is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non‑infringement. We do not warrant that the Software will be uninterrupted, error‑free, or that any data it reports is accurate.

5. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Giant Mushroom Studio will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, work, or profit, arising from your use of or inability to use the Software — including data loss caused by terminating a process or issuing a power command.

6. The Mac Agent

The VitaMac Agent is distributed as a notarized Developer ID download outside the Mac App Store. You install and run it at your own discretion. It runs with the privileges needed to read system stats and manage processes on your Mac; you are responsible for granting those permissions only if you trust the build you downloaded.

7. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with a new "last updated" date. Continued use of the Software after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
